Lylidale Gas Pipeline Project

Publish Date 2011-03-10
Metals International Limited signed the contract for the supply of API 5L X56 PSL2, AS 2885-1,AS 3862 DN300 ERW Dual FBE Coated Line Pipe on March 10,2011 for the Lilydale Gas Pipeline Project.

The Lilydale Gas Pipeline is a DN300 pipeline consisting of Class 300/6000 sections which traverse 10.3km between Yarra Glen and Lilydale, connecting into the APA Group's Outer Ring Main at the existing Multinet Yarra Glen City Gate compound, and to the end of the Ringwood to Lilydale branch pipeline off the Inner Ring Main.

The pipeline's construction included horizontal directional drilling to lay the pipeline under the Yarra River. The 10.3km transmission main will extend the Multinet Gas Distribution Network which includes 9,800km of pipelines and supplies natural gas to more than 660,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.

The construction of the pipeline was completed in July 2012, with minore electrical and civil works remaining on the Lilydale City Gate facility. The LCG will reduce gas pressure from 6890kPa to 2,760kPa to ensure safe transportation of supply across the transmission network.
